Job Description

Job Summary:
The Trucking Dispatcher plays a critical role in coordinating the scheduling and routing of truck drivers to ensure the timely delivery of goods. This position involves effective communication, problem-solving, and logistical coordination to meet customer demands and optimize transportation efficiency.
 

Responsibilities:

  1. Dispatch Operations:

    • Coordinate and assign drivers to specific delivery routes based on load type, location, and driver availability.
    • Monitor the real-time progress of drivers and shipments using tracking systems and communication tools.
    • Adjust routes and schedules as necessary to accommodate unforeseen events, such as traffic, weather, or changes in delivery priorities.
  2. Communication:

    • Maintain constant communication with drivers, providing them with delivery instructions, updates, and any relevant information.
    • Act as a liaison between drivers, customers, and other company departments to ensure smooth communication flow.
    • Handle driver inquiries, resolve issues, and provide support as needed.
  3. Route Planning:

    • Plan efficient routes that minimize distance, time, and fuel consumption while adhering to traffic regulations and road restrictions.
    • Consider factors such as delivery deadlines, traffic conditions, and driver hours of service limitations.
  4. Load Coordination:

    • Ensure proper loading and securing of cargo onto trucks to maintain safety and prevent damage during transit.
    • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure timely loading and unloading of shipments.
  5. Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of dispatch activities, including delivery times, driver logs, and any incidents that occur during transportation.
    • Prepare necessary paperwork, such as bills of lading and delivery confirmations.
  6. Problem Solving:

    • Address and resolve any issues that arise during transportation, such as delays, breakdowns, or route changes.
    • Collaborate with drivers and other team members to find effective solutions to unexpected challenges.
  7. Customer Service:

    • Provide excellent customer service by proactively communicating with customers about delivery status, delays, and any issues that might arise.
    • Address customer inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.
  8. Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, including driver hours of service, weight limits, and safety regulations.
    • Keep abreast of any changes in regulations that may impact dispatch operations.
  9. Technology Utilization:

    • Utilize dispatch software, GPS systems, and communication tools to efficiently manage and track fleet operations.
    • Adapt to new technologies and tools that improve efficiency and accuracy.
Schedule
  • 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM or 4:30 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays OFF  ( Must work the rest of week)
Pay
  •   $23.50  per hour
  • Average Salary :  $44,000
  • Pay is weekly ( via direct deposit)

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics, transportation, or a related field is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in using dispatching software, GPS systems, and other relevant technology.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Previous experience in dispatching, logistics, or the transportation industry is preferred.
