Hiring Solar Commissioning Manager - $45-50/hr + PD
Job Description
The Commissioning Manager leads and manages all commissioning activities for a utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) project. This position ensures that all systems and components are properly installed, tested, and functioning in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines. The Commissioning Manager works closely with project teams, contractors, and key stakeholders to ensure the safe, efficient, and successful delivery of a fully operational solar facility.
Schedule - 6a-8a start Monday - Friday (Some Saturdays)
Pay - $45-50/hr + $600/week per diem
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement the commissioning plan, schedule, and procedures for the solar photovoltaic (PV) site.

Lead and oversee all commissioning activities, including pre-commissioning, functional testing, performance verification, and system turnover.

Coordinate closely with engineering, construction, quality assurance, and safety teams to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.

Review and approve commissioning documentation, including test results, procedures, and as-built records.

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve any issues or deficiencies encountered during the commissioning process.

Ensure strict compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with equipment vendors and subcontractors to support commissioning activities and resolve technical challenges.

Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to site personnel as needed.

Prepare and deliver regular progress reports and updates to project management and key stakeholders.

Manage the final handover process of the commissioned facility to the operations and maintenance (O&M) team.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in commissioning, construction, or operations of utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects.

In-depth knowledge of solar PV systems, including inverters, transformers, SCADA systems, and balance of plant (BOP) equipment.

Familiarity with relevant industry standards and electrical codes, such as NEC, IEEE, IEC, and NERC.

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams effectively.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management and commissioning tools is a plus.

Flexibility to travel and work on-site as project needs dictate.
Preferred Qualifications: -
Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent industry certifications.

Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and hybrid renewable energy installations.

OSHA 30 certification or comparable safety training credentials.
