Job Description

Job Summary:

The role is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of assigned Solar Projects with a focus on employee safety, client satisfaction, cost control, schedule adherence, lean implementation, productivity tracking, and meeting company expectations. This position plays a key role in field leadership and project management.


Primary Responsibilities:

Site Setup & Safety:

  • Assist the Construction Manager (CM) with initial site setup and ongoing maintenance.

  • Ensure safe work practices are followed by all employees.

  • Train general foremen and crews on safety procedures.

  • Lead and attend daily crew safety briefings.

  • Ensure crews follow Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and installation plans.

  • Promote use of pre-task planning tools and hazard mitigation strategies.

  • Report and investigate incidents and accidents immediately.

Field Leadership & Oversight:

  • Spend 80% of your time in the field actively supervising tasks.

  • "Stand in the Circle" and observe at least 3 different crew tasks weekly.

  • Submit STOP Action Cards and review observations with crews to encourage continuous improvement.

  • Monitor productivity, eliminate non-value-added activities, and promote efficient break and work times.

  • Attend daily “Plan of Tomorrow” meetings and assist the CM with daily planning.

Crew & Operations Management:

  • Supervise day-to-day crew operations as directed by the CM.

  • Manage General Foremen (GFs) and ensure timekeeping, production tracking, and supervision are accurate and timely.

  • Resolve team conflicts and provide coaching and leadership development.

  • Ensure proper staffing, equipment, materials, and tools are available per task.

  • Write and distribute detailed installation plans.

Scheduling & Pre-Planning:

  • Help develop and maintain the construction schedule for your assigned area.

  • Pre-plan tasks, identifying material, equipment, and labor needs.

  • Coordinate with project engineering and procurement to ensure readiness.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure work meets company quality standards (minimum 97.5% success rate).

  • Use quality tracking tools to monitor performance daily.

  • Conduct A3 sessions with teams to address quality concerns and track improvements.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate daily logs using iAuditor and submit to the CM.

  • Complete and submit daily safety and quality inspections.

  • Create and implement iAuditor templates as needed.

Union Compliance:

  • Understand and enforce union requirements per local labor agreements and contracts.

Project Tracking & Drawings:

  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings using Bluebeam.

  • Support implementation of tracking systems with the CM and Project Engineer.


Basic Qualifications & Experience:

Knowledge of:

  • Electrical materials, wiring systems, troubleshooting, and electrical control systems.

  • NEC and OSHA standards, MSDS, and other safety-related regulations.

  • Commercial and solar electrical installations.

  • Coordination with other trades.

  • Installation planning and productivity/quality measurement.

  • Union rules and job site requirements.

Skills:

  • Leadership and team management.

  • Reading/interpreting blueprints and installation plans.

  • Time management and organization.

  • Communication (verbal and written).

  • Problem-solving and creative thinking.

  • Use of tools and troubleshooting systems (energized and de-energized).

  • Computer proficiency: Outlook, Excel, Bluebeam, iAuditor, Android tablets/apps.

Physical Requirements:

This role involves typical construction activities such as climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs., operating machinery and tools, bending, kneeling, driving, typing, and working in high-heat rural environments.
 

Pay and Benefits:

$45-$50 per hour ($81K to $120K  anual range)
